Definition Learning management system (LMS)
It is a software application for the documentation administration, reporting, tracking, and delivery of educational courses, training programs, or learning and development programs. The learning management system concept emerged directly from e-Learning.
Learning Management System or LMS (Learning Management System) is a server application (usual web) used to manage, distribute and control the virtual training activities (e-Learning) of an organization according to an established thematic content.

LMS functions:
Its main features are to manage users, resources, and content. As well as materials and activities for the formation or teaching of a specific document. Manage access, control and monitor the learning process, make evaluations, generate progress reports, and manage communication services. Such as discussion forums and videoconferences.
An LMS generally does not include authoring possibilities. But focuses on managing content that is created by different sources and offering them to users of the system. The task of building the content for the courses gets carried out through an LCMS (Learning Content Management Systems).
